My goal is to create a waste-free environment by gardening, composting, & making products from organic and upcycled materials. All of my products are sewn with my most cherished heirloom, my grandmother's 1958 Singer. My prints are hand-painted from the plants in our garden. Iris is our desert tortoise we adopted from the Living Desert Reserve who lives under the mesquite tree in our garden.

Homemade Laundry Soap
My sister Meg gave me this recipe for homemade laundry Soap and it works! I think because we were both Peace Corps volunteers living so closely to nature in rural villages, we share a love for simple, non-toxic cleaning products that are effective, inexpensive and don't end up hurting our natural environment.
The recipe is super easy and you can adjust the measurements according to your preferred strength. I buy all of the ingredients at my local Ace Hardware store down the street.
3 parts Borax2 parts baking soda
2 parts washing soda (can be found at Ace Hardware)
2 parts grated bar soap
Mix and store, use 1/8 cup per load
